New drinking fountains installed in central Cartagena
Fountains installed at Paseo Alfonso XII and Plaza de España as part of wider hydration plan
Cartagena is making staying hydrated easier with the installation of two new cold drinking fountains in the city centre this week. Following the launch of the first fountain in Plaza Juan XXIII last June, the Ayuntamiento, working alongside Hidrogea, the local water supply company, is continuing its municipal plan to increase free access to drinking water in public spaces.Strategically placed, one of the new fountains sits on Paseo Alfonso XII beside the Port’s tourist information office, while the other is at Plaza de España near the start of the popular 10,000 Steps Route. These locations ensure that locals and visitors have convenient access to fresh, cold water while exploring or running errands.
The current plan aims for a total of five drinking fountains within the city centre, with two more locations still under study. Earlier this summer, a fountain was also installed in the Galifa neighbourhood as part of the same initiative.
This effort is part of a wider municipal plan to promote better hydration and make drinking water more accessible throughout Cartagena. The initiative reflects Cartagena Ayuntamiento’s commitment to creating a more sustainable and healthy urban environment by offering free hydration points at convenient places across the municipality.
