Average temperatures expected on Saturday
The province of Alicante is facing a challenging situation as drought conditions persist, with no immediate relief in sight. Just hours after the Júcar Hydrographic Conference declared a state of emergency in the Marina Baixa region, the popular tourist destination of Altea has banned the filling of swimming pools due to low water reserves.
While heavy rains and storms are forecast in much of Spain over the weekend, Alicante province is bracing for a scorching few days, with temperatures soaring to between 30 and 35ºC. Orihuela and Villena are leading the mini-heatwave with predicted highs of 34ºC, closely followed by Alcoy and Elche, where temperatures are expected to reach 33ºC.
