New bus routes in the Cartagena and Mar Menor area
There are now buses connecting Cartagena, La Manga, Torre Pacheco and Los Alcázares

The new bus system came into effect across the Region of Murcia on Friday December 3 and included in the new plan are several remodelled routes in the Cartagena and Mar Menor area which aim to provide better public transport connections for residents all year round.
Movibus is the name of the new system, which is made up of new green buses which have 40 different routes in total, including those connecting the city of Murcia with the surrounding areas (Alcantarilla-Murcia, Beniel-Santomera-Murcia and Molina de Segura-Murcia) and those in the Mar Menor municipalities and Cartagena city.
One group of residents had to fight to have their bus route included in the new itinerary though, a group of La Manga locals who disagreed with the decision to abolish line 20, which connected Cartagena, El Algar, La Union, Cabo de Palos, Pedruchillo and more, and in the end Cartagena council agreed to maintain the vital transport line.
The 16 bus lines in the Cartagena/Mar Menor area, which includes municipalities such as Los Alcázares, Fuente Álamo and San Pedro del Pinatar, are:
- Line 11: San Pedro del Pinatar – San Javier – Torre Pacheco – Cartagena.
- Line 4: Cabo de Palos – Veneziola (also known as Bus Manga).
- Line 5: Balsicas -Roldán - Torre Pacheco – Cartagena.
- Line 6: San Pedro del Pinatar – San Javier – Santiago de la Ribera – Cabo de Palos.
- Line 3: La Unión – Cabo de Palos.

- Line 7: San Pedro del Pinatar – San Javier – Los Alcázares – Cartagena.
- Line 8A: Pozo Aledo – San Pedro del Pinatar.
- Line 2B: Portmán – La Unión – Cartagena.
- Line 2A: La Unión – Cartagena.
