Calima and temperatures up to 37 degrees: Murcia weekend weather forecast May 28-31

To close out the month of May in style, there will be torrid night-time temperatures this weekend for the Region of Murcia, along with soaring temps during the day and the chance of some calima Saharan dust in the air, according to the weather forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Thursday May 28
Murcia weather forecast, Thursday May 28For this Thursday, Aemet forecasts “partly cloudy or clear skies” with “light, variable winds tending to blow from the east during the day”. This is essentially the same as it will be on all the other days this weekend, with the differentiating factor that the Directorate-General for the Environment has warned of “the intrusion of African air masses over the southeast” of Spain for Thursday, which could affect air quality across the Region.
Friday May 29
Murcia weather forecast, Friday May 29On Friday, temperatures continue to rise, with inland and northern areas reaching highs of 36-37ºC by mid-afternoon, while along the coast it will be more like 27-29ºC.
Night-time temperatures will also rise, to around 13-16ºC in the north of the Region, 17-18ºC in the middle and 15-19ºC along the south coast.

Minimum and maximum temperatures in Murcia, Saturday May 30That’s not all, because Saturday sees those temperatures climb by another degree or two, leaving maximums of up to a sweltering 37ºC in Murcia city and surrounds! If that’s what late-May is like this year, what might we expect for July?

Murcia weather forecast, Sunday May 31Sunday will be ever so slightly more overcast and temperatures will drop by a couple of degrees from the day before, but that’s not to say it will be cool or cloudy by any stretch of the imagination.
Oh no, the sunny weather and high temperatures are only forecast to continue for the foreseeable future (i.e. next week, which is as far as meteorologists can reasonably predict with any degree of accuracy). Enjoy your weekend!
