A very special double bill at the open-air auditorium of Parque Almansa in San Javier
Special guests Champian Fulton and Ekep Nkwelle complete the line-up

The third double bill at the 2024 San Javier begins with a performance by Joan Mar Sauqué, a trumpeter and composer born in the province of Girona and one of the most admired talents of new jazz in Spain. He learnt his trade with David Pastor and in Joan Chamorro's Sant Andreu Jazz Band, from which some of the best jazz musicians in Catalonia have emerged, perfecting his style at the Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya.
With three albums under his belt, Joan Mar debuts at Jazz San Javier with an exceptional quintet, composed of the prestigious brothers Lluc and Joan Casares on saxophone and drums, respectively, the brilliant double-bassist Giuseppe Campisi and the fantastic pianist and singer from Oklahoma (USA) Champian Fulton, considered one of the best jazz musicians of her generation.
Line-up
Joan Mar Sauqué: trumpet and composition
Champian Fulton: piano and singer
Lluc Casares: tenor sax
Joan Casares: drums
Giuseppe Campisi: double-bass.
They are followed by the Russell Malone & Cyrus Chestnut Quartet with special guest Ekep Nkwelle. Two greats of jazz, guitarist Russell Malone and pianist Cyrus Chestnut offer us a concert uniting two of the greatest virtuosos of the USA on their respective instruments. Russell Malone has played with Jimmy Smith, Harry Connick Jr., Diana Krall, Sonny Rollins, Roy Hargrove and Dianne Reeves, while Cyrus Chestnut, pianist, composer and record producer, has collaborated with Jon Hendricks, Betty Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Freddy Cole, Jimmy Scott, Kevin Mahogany and Isaac Hayes.
They are accompanied by an exceptional rhythm section, double bassist Darryl Hall and drummer Willie Jones III, two of the best jazz musicians of our days, and special guest Ekep Nkwelle, a North American vocalist with roots in Cameroon. She is considered one of the best female voices of the new jazz and this is an extremely attractive concert for jazz fans.
