La Manga transport stays affordable with €421,000 budget boost for 2026
Discounts maintained on key bus lines while culture and sports get extra funding
Great news for La Manga and Cabo de Palos residents: the La Manga Consortium's Board has approved a healthy €421,000 budget for 2026, up 4.71% from last year. This extra cash means they can keep those popular public transport discounts rolling on the intercity lines while ramping up community events too.The €40,000 set aside for fare reductions stays put, covering the four main bus routes: Line 43 (Cartagena-Pedruchillo), Line 44 (Cabo de Palos-Veneziola), Line 23 (Los Urrutias-La Manga), and Line 46 (San Pedro del Pinatar-Cabo de Palos). Since early 2025, locals from La Manga, Cabo de Palos, and nearby spots have enjoyed these savings, making it easier and cheaper to get around without breaking the bank.
Cultural and sporting activities get a nice lift too, with €60,000 allocated, that's €5,000 more than 2025, for local festivals, neighbourhood gatherings, and efforts to breathe new life into the area. A small €3,000 goes to the Mar Menor-Cabo de Palos Nautical Station for water-based events, plus funds for maintenance and collaborations to keep everything running smoothly.
The budget bump comes mainly from bumped-up contributions by Cartagena and San Javier (from €399,150 to €420,000), offsetting a drop in tourist train fees. It's all about balancing the books while supporting what residents value most: affordable travel and lively community happenings.
