Camping Park opens as Mar Menor Town halls clamps down on Wild Camping
For some time, the town halls have been cracking down on wild camping in the Mar Menor area.
Thanks to a tighter policy, it’s no longer so easy to find yourself a nice spot, pull over and ‘drop anchor’ as the local authorities are being more diligent about moving campers on from unauthorised parking.
But don’t worry, help is at hand. The newly-opened Area Narejos camping site can provide you with a perfect spot for your camper van, giving you the chance to stay in this beautiful part of the Spanish Costas perfectly legally and for a very reasonable price.
This brand new establishment is a large, well laid-out site, and is just five minutes from the sea. What’s more, it is very easy to find from the main AP-7 motorway that runs up and down the Murcia coastline.
Any visitor will find the the site’s facilities to be excellent. First of all, the layout is a good mix of practical and scenic. Every parking spot is well situated and completely level (travelling in a camper van, you’ll know the importance of that!). Then there are the garden areas: lawned zones and water features, surrounded by palm trees and attractive shrubbery. If you’re someone who likes to keep fit as you travel around, you’ll be glad to know the campsite provides an outdoor fitness area, complete with a variety of equipment for al fresco exercise. If you have any enquiries, the site office, run by Pedro Sanchez Conesa, is open for assistance from 9am to 9pm every day.
The on-site bar and restaurant, Marea Narejos, offers a large and shady terrace on which to enjoy drinks or a meal, including daily menus, kids’ meals, and a full range of paellas, tapas, seafood and grilled dishes that will appeal to any appetite or preference.
Prices are very reasonable and you can get a significant reduction in the daily rate if you stay more than five days at a time. What’s more, the water supplies (both drinkable and not) are free to paying clients, as are hot showers. For a small additional charge, you can connect the van to the electricity supply and there are also laundry facilities onsite (again for a small charge).
On top of the facilities, the very practical benefit of the Area Narejos site is the easy accessibility. Just five minutes from exit 786 from the motorway and a couple of turns and you’re there (full directions can be found on their website together with satnav/GPS coordinates).
Now camper van owners can enjoy an open-ended stay on the Mar Menor – one of the most beautiful spots in the region – on a clean, safe and well-equipped campsite. You can spend a week here or stay for the whole winter, enjoying the fantastic all year round weather.
